New Podcast Show - Childhood Obesity on the Decline in the U.S.?

Welcome Back Everyone,

My nationally syndicated podcast show presents the latest ethnic health and health disparities data in the country. Today's show is: Is Childhood Obesity on the Decline in the U.S.?

A few days ago, a major report was published in Journal of the American Medical Association highlighting the analysis of data gathered from 1999 to 2006 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to the report, the data is based on two surveys -- one in 2003 to 2004 and one in 2005 to 2006 -- that included 8,165 children ages 2 to 19. In that group, about 16 percent of children and teenagers were obese, which is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) at or above the 95th percentile on United States growth charts. By comparison about 5 percent of children and teenagers in the U.S. were obese in the 1960s and 1970s.

This report further states that from a statistical standpoint, obesity rates have NOT increased since 1999. Estimates for the number of children who fall into the overweight or obese category also have remained stable at about 32 percent since 1999.

Well, take a listen to my show right here and I have some challenging thoughts, investigative issues and down right CONCERN about this report!

New Podcast Show - Life Expectancy Declines Among U.S. Women

Welcome,

My nationally syndicated podcast show presents the latest ethnic health and health disparities data in the country. Today's topic is: Life Expectancy among U.S. Women.

Recently, a team of researchers at Harvard University, University of California at San Francisco and University of Washington published an article entitled,

"The Reversal of Fortunes: Trends in County Mortality and Cross-County Mortality Disparities in the United States"

This study indicates that life expectancy is dramatically DECREASING among U.S. women in specific counties in certain areas of the country. THIS IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT REPORT AND TREND THAT SHOWS A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DECREASED LIFE EXPECTANCY AND THE MAJOR RISK FACTORS SUCH AS SMOKING, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND OBESITY!

To listen to my thoughts on this disturbing health disparity trend, check out our latest Podcast Show entitled,
